Youth Classes

Whether your child is new to climbing or an experienced crusher, we have a place for them! Our youth programming (ages 3-17) focuses on fun and friendships while fostering teamwork, confidence, and a lifelong love for challenge.

Goats

Little Goat

This parent-child class allows you and your littlest climber to gain agility, balance, and coordination as they joyfully become comfortable and brave on the climbing wall.

Big Goat

This class is a step up from Little Goats. It encourages participation in a greater variety of climbing experiences, including top-rope climbing, bouldering, and auto-belays.

Mountain Goat

This class is step beyond Big Goats, preparing climbers to progress into the Club program. Mountain Goats will continue to develop proficiency with auto-belays, top-roping, and bouldering. They will also explore new topics like competition climbing, movement vocabulary, and introductory belay technique.

Short Form Goats

These classes are everything you love about our traditional Goats classes but shorter! With the holidays right around the corners, Short Form Goats is only 5 weeks long.

Club

Climbing Club - Level 1

This program is meant to foster a love of climbing with the mental and physical challenges that climbing presents. Beginner and Intermediate climbers will gain trust and confidence through bouldering and rope climbing activities in an encouraging group setting. They will learn the technical and social skills that help them grow as individuals as well as members of our community.

Climbing Club - Level 2

This program furthers the skills and passions of intermediate and advanced climbers. Your child will climb socially with their peers while working closely with coaches to increase their mastery of more advanced climbing techniques. Your child will grow into a strong, healthy, and independent climber in a challenging and supportive environment.

Team

Interested in joining the Shaker Rocks competitive team? Sign up for tryouts! Tryouts will help coaches determine which team is most appropriate for each climber. Tryouts are held annually in August and December.

Team Tryouts

Shaker Rocks will be hosting tryouts for our youth competitive teams! Tryout participants are expected to stay for the full 1.5 hour tryout session. The tryout is for both acceptance and placement. Our coaches will determine which team is best suited for each climber.

Introductory Team

Introductory Team is a great first step into the world of competitive climbing. Team members will be professionally coached twice a week, for 4 hours total. They will focus on improving technique, conditioning, and becoming accustomed to a more demanding training schedule. Introductory Team members will be expected to compete in at least 2 competitions throughout a 9-month season, with 12 different opportunities to complete. Gym membership is required due to the rigorous training schedule.

Prerequisites: Successfully test out of Climbing Club Level 1, demonstrate ability to TR belay, manage self in a gym environment, and desire to progress and climb consistently.

Intermediate Team

Intermediate Team is for serious climbers looking to begin competing outside of Shaker Rocks at a higher, more structured level. Climbers are professionally coached twice a week, for 4 hours total. Intermediate Team members will work toward a goal of qualifying for and competing in USAC regional-level competitions. In addition to team practices, team members are encouraged to climb 1-2 times more per week with friends, family, or teammates. Gym membership is required due to the rigorous training schedule.

Prerequisites: Ability to flash a 5.10 and a V2. Must model appropriate, mature, and committed behavior and attendance. Qualify for USAC Regional CE competition. Shaker Rocks gym membership.

Advanced Team

The Advanced Team is exactly what it sounds like - our most advanced team for climbers who are really serious about the sport! Climbers are professionally coached twice a week, for 6 total hours. The goal of Advanced Team is for members to qualify for and compete in USAC Divisional and/or National competitions. In addition to team practices, team members are encouraged to climb 1-2 times more per week with friends, family, or teammates. Gym membership is required due to the rigorous training schedule.

Prerequisites: Ability to flash a 5.11- or a V4. Must model appropriate, mature, and committed behavior and attendance. Qualify for USAC Divisional CE competition. Shaker Rocks gym membership.

Youth Competitive Team - Summer

Competitive team members have the option of continuing their training in a more relaxed summer setting. Choose one or two training days per week and pick up where the regular season left off! In addition to team practices, team members are encouraged to climb 1-2 times more per week with friends, family, or teammates to keep those skills sharp.

Collegiate Team

Join us for climbing with your college climbing club or team! If your schedule doesn't have a climbing club or team and wants to start one, we can help you get it off the ground. Contact us to get started.

Winter Break Camp - Single Day

Spend your Winter Break at Shaker Rocks! Kids will have fun-filled days packed with climbing on the tall rope walls, crate stacking, bouldering, team-building games, and much more. New climbers will learn the fundamental skills of climbing while experienced climbers can take their abilities to the next level on more challenging terrain.

Kids will have one week of fun-filled days packed with climbing on the tall rope walls, crate stacking, bouldering, team-building games, and much more. New climbers will learn the fundamental skills of climbing while experienced climbers can take their abilities to the next level on more challenging terrain.

Shaker Rocks Winter Break Camp develops courageous and open-minded kids. Daily adventures requiring determination, problem solving, and a generous dose of helping others keep campers engaged from hands to heart.

Holiday Day Camps

When there is no school and your kids are climbing the walls, bring them to Shaker Rocks to climb our walls. They'll make new friends, grow their climbing skills, enjoy climbing games and related activities, try crate-stacking, and more! Campers must bring a packed lunch.

Spring Break Camp - Single Day

Adrenaline Rocks

Adrenaline Monkey and Shaker Rocks are joining forces with Adrenaline Rocks, an exclusive Climbing and Ninja Camp this summer. Double the fun in one camp as your child will be able to Embrace Adventure on Adrenaline Monkey's various ninja and aerial obstacle courses and Climb the Heights on Shaker Rocks' tremendous 40' high rock walls! Camp lasts four days and spots are limited to 12 participants so don't miss out and sign up today!

Summer Camp - Preschool

Climbing plays a key role in early childhood motor skills development. Climbing at a young age helps hone spatial and directional awareness, and also boosts physical skills such as balance, coordination, and agility. All this benefit, plus loads of fun climbing games and activities will give your child a summer to remember.

Birthday Parties

Host a birthday party at Shaker and have a blast with our 22-foot high party walls for climbers of all levels, staff support and seating for both parents and kids to enjoy!

Birthday Parties

Birthday parties are hosted on the mezzanine of the gym with party walls that are 22 feet high.  These walls are set to give beginner and intermediate climbers of all ages a fun and rewarding time. In addition to climbing with the help of Shaker Rocks staff belayers, kids can climb using the autobelays set up along the party walls. Seating and tables are available all along the mezzanine so parents and kids can have a place to watch their friends and relax!
